Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), a China-based institution and one of the world's largest banks, has implemented a significant strategy shift in its Turkish operations. The bank announced it will remove all its physical ATMs across the country. To prevent customer inconvenience, a new formula introducing a 'free shared ATM' period has been activated.
The Chinese financial giant ICBC, which made a strong entry into the Turkish banking sector years ago by acquiring Tekstilbank, has taken a radical digital-focused step in its operations in Turkey. The bank, which serves with a limited branch network (19 branches) in our country and is known for providing corporate financing/investment loans mainly to large-scale projects, is completely deactivating its physical ATMs.
ALL OTHER ATMs BECOME FREE
According to the new regulation announced to customers via an informational message sent by the bank, ICBC Bank Turkey ATMs will be completely removed from service. However, ICBC customers will be able to perform their cash transactions free of charge at all other banks' ATMs across Turkey, provided they meet a specific condition.
THERE IS ONLY ONE CONDITION FOR FREE USE
For ICBC customers to withdraw and deposit money without paying commissions at other bank ATMs in Turkey, they will need to actively use digital banking channels. According to the new system, customers who log into the bank's mobile application (Mobile Branch) will not pay any fees for transactions they perform at any other bank ATMs in Turkey for 30 days from the moment they log in. If they log into the app regularly each month, the privilege of free transactions at shared ATMs will continue uninterrupted.
STATEMENT WAS MADE
The official SMS sent to customers from the bank included the following statements: "Dear customer, within the scope of the regulation made in our ATM services, our bank's ATMs will be removed from service. You can continue to use all ATMs across Turkey for free. Every time you log into our Mobile Branch, you will earn the privilege of performing free transactions at all ATMs of your choice for 30 days."
