After a long period of rest, Devlet Bahçeli appeared before the cameras after visiting the grave of Alparslan Türkeş, 66 days later. Following the developments that occurred after the call to İmralı, Bahçeli signaled that he was open to visiting Diyarbakır.
Devlet Bahçeli, who initiated a new process with the call from İmralı and underwent heart valve surgery in February, taking a long rest period, appeared before the cameras 66 days later by visiting the grave of Alparslan Türkeş on the anniversary of his death. Most recently, the process gained momentum after DEM Party members Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan visited Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace.
GREEN LIGHT FOR DİYARBAKIR VISIT
Following these developments, Bahçeli gave the green light to visit Diyarbakır. Yavuz Donat, a columnist for Sabah Newspaper, wrote about his conversation with Bahçeli in his column.
The relevant section of Donat's column included the following statements:
"Parliament... October 1, 2024... The olive branch extended to DEM members of parliament... Bahçeli's first statement: 'While seeking peace in the world, we must ensure peace in our own country.' And... The first stones laid on the long, narrow road by Bahçeli... Dialogue to open locked doors, the opening of clenched fists, the softening of tense facial features, goodwill relationships, the establishment of communication networks... These are the most reasonable keys to open locked doors. 6.5 months have passed, and I told Devlet Bahçeli:
-May you fully regain your health with goodness... The weather is warming up... In the coming weeks... May... June... It's the perfect time for Diyarbakır... The region is waiting for you; can we go together?
Devlet Bey said, 'Why not?' He was pleased with my question. He continued by saying, 'It could be.'
It should happen... They should go to the region together with the President. I wish the main opposition party leader Özgür Özel could join them as well."
