Famous singer Turgut Karataş, known as Ankaralı Turgut, was rushed to the hospital in August and diagnosed with cancer. It was learned that the famous artist has lung cancer and that cancer cells have spread to the liver; he was intubated yesterday.

Reports of Ankaralı Turgut's death caused a great stir. His daughter Eylem Boran denied the claims.

Eylem Boran called into the Söylemezsem Olmaz program on Beyaz TV, stating that her father is alive and that the death news is unfounded. Expressing that the news is false, Boran said, "My father is currently in intensive care. His general condition is critical. There is absolutely nothing like that, no one should believe it. His condition is stable, nothing has changed."

WHO IS ANKARALI TURGUT?

Musician, singer, and actor Ankaralı Turgut was born in 1963 in Ankara. He started his music career at the age of 12 by playing the darbuka at village weddings. The fact that there were many musicians in his family, especially his father who played the drums, encouraged him to get involved in music.

Ankaralı Turgut also began to sing the lively folk songs of Ankara. After returning from military service, he released his first regional album, and later released three more albums as an amateur.

In 1994, Ankaralı Turgut moved to Istanbul and made his first professional album by parodying Tarkan's "Oynama Şıkıdım." When this album sold 300,000 copies without any advertising, he then made his second album by changing Barış Manço's "Oku Bakim."

After separating from his imam-wed wife Hülya Sakar, whom he married in 1986, in 2006, he married Meltem Karataş. He divorced her two months later in 2007. The famous artist has five children from his first marriage.
