Following the agreement between the US and Iran, the Israeli Security Cabinet convened to discuss Iran and Lebanon, which became the scene of heated debates. After the leak that airstrikes against Iran were canceled at the last minute at the request of US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly reprimanded Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir.
Following the agreement between the US and Iran, the Israeli Security Cabinet convened today and discussed issues related to Iran and Lebanon.
DISCUSSION ERUPTED
According to a report by Israel's Channel 12, a discussion erupted in the meeting because Israeli Air Force Commander Major General Omer Tischler confirmed that Netanyahu canceled the planned airstrike on Iran on June 8 at the request of US President Donald Trump just minutes before it was scheduled to take place.
REPRIMANDED THE CHIEF OF STAFF IN FRONT OF EVERYONE
Netanyahu reprimanded Zamir in front of everyone and claimed that Tischler's message was a mistake, stating, "It harmed Israel's unity and embarrassed us in front of Trump."
The report did not share details of what was discussed in the security cabinet.
DISPUTE OVER THE AGREEMENT TEXT
Meanwhile, the US denied the claim that it rejected Israel's request to access and review the US-Iran agreement text. According to a written statement by a US official to AA, Israel did not make any request to access the US-Iran agreement text.
The statement said, "The United States remained in close coordination with our regional partners, including Israel, throughout the negotiations." Additionally, a source close to the matter shared that the Israelis did not make such a request from the US negotiators.
The US media, based on a report in the Israeli press, had previously claimed that Israel had not yet seen the highly confidential text of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding and that its request to review the text was rejected by the US.
ISRAEL-IRAN CONFLICT
On June 7, the Israeli army carried out an airstrike on the Dahieh district of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, despite a ceasefire, and Iranian officials reacted to this attack by Israel, announcing that they would retaliate.
That same evening, sirens sounded in many cities in northern Israel due to missiles fired from Iran in three waves.
The Israeli army announced that it targeted the western and central parts of Iran, and Tehran responded to these attacks with missiles. It was reported that the mutual attacks stopped around noon on June 8.
Israeli Army Radio noted that the Israeli army planned a major attack on Iran, but it was stopped at Trump's request, and Israeli Air Force Commander Tischler confirmed the news today.
