The districts with the potential to become provinces in Turkey have become a topic of discussion again. When the list of 19 districts previously brought to the agenda by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli was compared with earlier predictions, it was seen that 10 districts were common, while 9 districts were not included in the list. In particular, the absence of Gebze, Çorlu, and İnegöl drew attention.
Discussions continue over increasing the number of provinces in Türkiye, while differences have emerged between two different lists regarding districts that could gain provincial status. The settlements in the last 19 places of the previously published 100-district forecast list were compared with the 19 districts mentioned by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. While 10 districts appeared on both lists, it was seen that 9 districts were replaced by different districts.
BAHÇELİ'S LIST INCLUDES 19 DISTRICTS
The districts reported to be included in Bahçeli's statement are spread across different regions of Türkiye. Polatlı and Konya Ereğli from Central Anatolia; Ünye, Vezirköprü, and Zonguldak Ereğli from the Black Sea; Erciş, Doğubayazıt, and Ahlat from Eastern Anatolia are on the list.
Ergani, Midyat, and Siverek from Southeastern Anatolia; Elbistan, Kozan, Alanya, and Tarsus from the Mediterranean; Fethiye and Akhisar from the Aegean; and Lüleburgaz and Bandırma from the Marmara are listed.
10 DISTRICTS ARE ON BOTH LISTS
When the previous forecasts and the list attributed to Bahçeli were compared, it was seen that Akhisar, Alanya, Ergani, Konya Ereğli, Fethiye, Kozan, Lüleburgaz, Polatlı, Siverek, and Tarsus were on both lists.
GEBZE, ÇORLU, AND İNEGÖL DID NOT MAKE THE LIST
Anamur, Cizre, Çorlu, Edremit, Gebze, İskenderun, İnegöl, Kahta, and Yüksekova, which were in the previous forecasts, are not in the compared 19-district list.
It is noteworthy that Gebze, Çorlu, and İnegöl, which stand out especially for their industrial and manufacturing activities, are not on the list. In the list attributed to Bahçeli, Ünye, Vezirköprü, Zonguldak Ereğli, Erciş, Doğubayazıt, Ahlat, Midyat, Elbistan, and Bandırma are included in place of these districts.
