Fatih Erbakan, the Chairman of the Yeniden Refah Party, stated that they will not participate in a new alliance reportedly being established under the leadership of Özgür Özel, emphasizing that their party running alone in the elections is the most appropriate option. Erbakan said, "We have never been part of an alliance led by the CHP either. I believe that would also not be suitable."
Fatih Erbakan, Chairman of the New Welfare Party, made evaluations about the current agenda on a YouTube program he attended. Speaking about his party's vote rate and possible alliances, Erbakan responded to criticisms that they gained votes thanks to the People's Alliance.
“OUR VOTES INCREASED OUTSIDE THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE”
Reminding that his party received 2.89% of the vote while in the People's Alliance, Erbakan stated that when they ran independently in local elections, their vote share rose to 7%.
Erbakan said, “It is not very accurate to say that you gained votes because you were in the People's Alliance. While we were in the People's Alliance, we received 2.89% of the vote. In the local elections, although we were outside the People's Alliance, we received 7% of the vote. Therefore, our votes increased more than twofold outside the People's Alliance.”
“WHAT HAS BEEN TRIED IS NOT TRIED AGAIN”
Stating that their participation in the People's Alliance in the past was a correct decision according to the conditions of that period, Erbakan said they are not in the same position today.
Erbakan stated, “What was right for us back then was also the expectation of the conservative electorate. But what is right today is no longer to be in the People's Alliance. Because what has been tried is not tried again.”
“WE MUST ENTER ELECTIONS ALONE”
Also touching on possible new alliance scenarios, Erbakan expressed that they would not be part of any alliance involving the CHP.
Erbakan said, “We have never been in an alliance led by the CHP. Now the CHP has not one, but two. I think that would also not be appropriate. I believe it would be right for us to enter elections alone.”
