A dog with an owner that broke free from its chain entered the yard of a school in Ümraniye and bit five students and one teacher. The incident was captured on security cameras.
ENTERED THE SCHOOL YARD AND BIT THE TEACHER AND STUDENTS
The incident occurred a few days ago at a middle school located in the Ihlamurkuyu neighborhood of Ümraniye district. According to reports, the dog that escaped from its chain entered the middle school's yard. The dog attacked many students here and was later removed by the intervention of the teachers. Five students and one teacher who were bitten by the dog were injured but their lives are not in danger. The injured were taken to hospitals by ambulances after the first aid provided at the scene.
FEARFUL MOMENTS CONTINUED OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL
The dog, which was taken outside the school, then attacked a mother and her 7-year-old daughter who were walking on the road. The dog was difficult to separate from the surrounding people who intervened. In the operation carried out by the police teams, the owner of the dog, identified as A.K., was caught and taken into custody. After completing the procedures at the police station, A.K. was referred to the courthouse for the crime of "releasing the animal in a way that endangers it." The dog was taken under protection by municipal teams.
"IT BIT MY FACE AND TOOK ME DOWN"
Seven-year-old Hayat Irmak Demir, who was injured on her arm and face due to the dog's attack while she was going to the health center with her mother, recounted the horror she experienced. Demir said, "I was holding my mother's hand, and the dog suddenly jumped on me. It bit my face and took me down. My mother and the people around saved me. The dog also attacked my mother. It pulled my hair with its teeth and bit my shoulder. It hurt a lot. I am fine now, and I thank the brothers who saved us," she said.
THE FAMILY WILL FILE A COMPLAINT
Mother Kübra Demir stated that they would file a complaint, saying, "We were walking with my daughter when the dog suddenly jumped on us. I don't know, some citizens came. They tried to save us. I will file a complaint. I will seek what is rightfully mine. We cannot send our children outside; I want the dogs to be collected," she said.
