In the Konak district of Izmir, a funeral ceremony was held at noon at Karşıyaka Beşikçioğlu Mosque for Dr. Emine Yılmaz (60), a married mother of two who died after facelift surgery at a private hospital. RADIOLOGIST HUSBAND INITIATED LEGAL PROCESS
Her husband Dr. Turgut Yılmaz, speaking about the incident, said, "After the plastic aesthetic operation, cardiac arrest developed due to Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). She died after several days in intensive care. I am a radiology specialist. I think the surgery took a long time and that blood-thinning medication was not started. We have initiated legal proceedings, and we will follow up."
ALLEGATION OF NEGLIGENCE IN 11-HOUR SURGERY
Dr. Yılmaz said, "I think there was negligence as follows. The surgery duration is very long. It lasted approximately 11 hours. I think that in such long-lasting surgeries, the blood thinner medication we call 'Kleksan' should have been administered. Even though I am not a surgeon, I am of the opinion that this process caused venous thrombosis. I am very sad. I cannot find anything to say."
