EARLY FAREWELL FROM BUSENAZ AND ELIF
In the evening session of the World Championship held at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, Busenaz faced Aida Abikeyeva from Kazakhstan in the women's 65 kg category. Busenaz, who won a gold medal in the previous world championship in the 66 kg category, and Abikeyeva, who was the champion in the 63 kg category, competed against each other in the quarter-finals at 65 kg in Liverpool. The last three-time world champion Busenaz, who lost 5-0 to her opponent, had to say goodbye to the championship in the quarter-finals this time.
National athlete Elif Güneri, competing in the 80 kg category, faced Emily Asquith from the host country, England. Elif was eliminated after losing 5-0 to her opponent.
3 MEDALS GUARANTEED, ONE MORE QUARTER-FINAL TO GO
Turkey has guaranteed three medals in the World Championship, while one national athlete will also compete in the quarter-finals. Buse Naz Çakıroğlu in the women's 51 kg, Büşra Işıldar in the 75 kg, and Şeyma Düztaş in the +80 kg categories will compete in the semi-finals on Saturday, September 13. In the men's category, Samet Gümüş will have his quarter-final match on Friday, September 12.
