Egypt to take on Morocco in quarterfinals on Sunday.

Egypt beat Ivory Coast 5-4 on penalties Wednesday to face Morocco in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinals.

The round of 16 match at Cameroon's Douala Stadium ended in a draw as both teams failed to score during regular and extra time.

The deadlock was broken when Eric Bailly missed the third penalty shot for Ivory Coast, giving Egypt the penalty shootout victory.

In the other round of 16 match of the day, Equatorial Guinea defeated Mali 6-5 on penalties after normal and extra time ended in a goalless draw and will take on Senegal in Sunday's quarterfinal match.

Egypt will take on Morocco at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Cameroon's capital Yaounde on Sunday for the quarterfinals.

Gambia will play against Cameroon while Burkina Faso will take on Tunisia on Saturday. -
