While mosques were overflowing for the Eid al-Adha prayer in Mardin, there was a high density at the 842-year-old historical Ulu Mosque in the Kiziltepe district. After the Eid prayer, prayers were offered for Muslims under oppression, especially in Palestine. As the congregation exchanged Eid greetings with takbirs, citizens later left the mosques to visit cemeteries with their families and meet relatives.
Mosques were overflowing in Mardin due to Eid al-Adha prayers, with heavy crowds at the 842-year-old Ulu Mosque in the Kızıltepe district. After the Eid prayer, the congregation prayed and exchanged Eid greetings.
The Eid prayer was performed at 5:33 AM in the city. Citizens arriving at mosques from the early hours of the morning lined up for the Eid prayer. The 842-year-old Ulu Mosque, one of the important historical structures of Kızıltepe, was also filled on the morning of the holiday.
PRAYER FOR PALESTINE
In the sermon delivered after the prayer, the importance of holidays was emphasized, and it was requested to pray for Muslims under oppression, especially in Palestine.
After the sermon, takbirs were recited, and the first Eid greetings were exchanged inside the mosque. In addition to the Ulu Mosque, crowds were also experienced at the Şakir Nuhoğlu, Kenan Kösen, and Zeynel Abidin mosques.
“WE WILL FOLLOW THE SUNNAH OF PROPHET IBRAHIM”
Mehmet Sait Arslanhan, a member of the mosque congregation, drew attention to the spiritual meaning of Eid al-Adha and said, "We will follow the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim. May Eid al-Adha be blessed for all Muslims."
Selahaddin Gökdemir stated that they would visit the cemetery with their family after the Eid prayer, saying, "First, we will visit the graves of our elders, and then we will exchange Eid greetings with relatives."
