Eighteen people were killed in an attack by armed motorcyclists in Zamfara state, Nigeria.

In a armed attack in Nigeria's Zamfara state, 18 people lost their lives. Zamfara State Commissioner for Information and Culture Mahmud Dantawasa stated in a local newspaper that armed individuals on motorcycles carried out an attack on Bunkasau village.

Dantawasa reported that 18 people died in the attack and many others were injured.

"SENSELESS ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST INNOCENT CITIZENS"

Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal condemned the attack, describing it as a senseless act of violence against innocent citizens.

Nigeria has long been facing attacks from armed gangs as well as terrorist organizations Boko Haram and the West African branch of ISIS, ISWAP, in various regions of the country. Although the penalty for kidnapping in the country is death, incidents of abduction for ransom are frequently encountered. Armed individuals typically target villages, schools, and travelers in the northern part of the country, demanding ransom.
