A new era has begun on food delivery platforms with the regulation of the Ministry of Trade. All fees charged by restaurants have been made transparent, and mandatory additional charges have been eliminated. Participation in campaigns and discounts has been made voluntary. While the commission system has been simplified, a fairer and more predictable structure has been established for both businesses and consumers.
The Ministry of Trade has implemented new regulations for food delivery platforms. Accordingly, all service fees collected from restaurants have been made transparent, and mandatory additional fee practices have been abolished.
ALL FEES WILL NOW BE CLEARLY VISIBLE
In a statement from the ministry, it was noted that all fees paid by restaurants to platforms must now be shown in detail on seller panels according to service items. This way, businesses will be able to see their costs clearly and make more informed decisions.
MANDATORY ADDITIONAL FEES HAVE BEEN REMOVED
With the regulation, the collection of additional fees from restaurants for basic services such as order taking, delivery, and payment infrastructure has been prevented. Thus, the aim is to reduce the financial burden on businesses.
VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION IN CAMPAIGNS
In the new system, participation in campaigns, discounts, and advertising practices is entirely based on voluntary participation. It was emphasized that restaurants cannot be forced into these practices and that no penalties will be imposed on businesses that do not participate.
COMMISSION CALCULATION SIMPLIFIED
The complexity experienced in discounted sales has also been resolved. Accordingly, if the discount is made solely by the restaurant, the commission will be calculated based on the amount paid by the consumer. If the discount is made in conjunction with the platform, the platform's contribution will also be included in the calculation.
NEW ERA IN THE SECTOR
The ministry stated that the aim of the regulations is to increase transparency, trust, and predictability in e-commerce. It was also expressed that new steps will be taken towards the sector if necessary.
