In the primary election that the CHP will hold to determine its presidential candidate, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is widely expected to be a candidate, has faced competition. Former CHP Member of Parliament Dursun Çiçek announced that he will run in the primary election. Çiçek stated, "I will go to Ankara tomorrow to submit my candidacy application."
A surprising development occurred in the Republican People's Party's presidential candidate selection process. Former CHP Member of Parliament Dursun Çiçek announced during his appearance on TV 100 that he is a candidate for the primary election to determine the presidential candidate in the CHP.
"THERE WILL BE NO SINGLE CANDIDATE PRIMARY"
Çiçek stated, "If a primary election is to be held, there must be at least 2-3 candidates so that the members can express their preferences. A primary election with a single candidate would not be democratic or ethical. There needs to be multiple candidates presented to the members. I will go to Ankara tomorrow to submit my candidacy application. We have always advocated for primaries. Therefore, we want to contribute to this process." he said.
"ÖZEL IS AWARE TOO"
In response to the question, "Did you talk to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel about your candidacy?" Çiçek replied, "I provided information." He conveyed that Özel responded, "The decision is yours."
"I WOULD BE HAPPY TO COMPETE WITH EKREM BEY"
To the question, "How do you view competing with Ekrem İmamoğlu?" he responded, "I would be happy to compete with Ekrem Bey. Primaries should always be held in the CHP."
"MANSUR YAVAŞ DID NOT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN A RACE WHERE HE WOULD COME IN SECOND"
Regarding Mansur Yavaş's inability to participate in the primary due to it being too early, Çiçek said, "I would have liked Mansur Bey to participate as well. I do not find it early. I disagree with him. He did not want to participate in a race where he would come in second."
AT LEAST 20 SIGNATURES FROM MPs ARE REQUIRED
Members of Parliament have started to give signatures for the presidential candidacy applications in the CHP. A candidate can be nominated with at least 20 signatures from MPs, and MPs can also sign for multiple candidates.
