In a statement made by the General Directorate of Highways, it was announced that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to use the D-100 and D-750 State Highways, as well as the TEM and Northern Marmara Highways, covering the provinces of Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Bolu, and Ankara, between 1:00 PM on February 21 (Friday) and 1:00 PM on February 23 (Sunday).
The General Directorate of Highways (KGM) announced that due to adverse weather conditions, some highways and state roads in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Bolu, and Ankara have been closed to heavy vehicle traffic for 2 days.
WARNING FOR 6 PROVINCES
In the announcement made by the General Directorate of Highways, it was stated: "According to the forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology; starting from the afternoon hours on Friday, February 21, an orange (dangerous) coded meteorological warning has been issued for our provinces of Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Düzce; and a yellow (less dangerous) coded warning has been issued for our provinces of Istanbul, Bolu, and Karabük."
PROHIBITION UNTIL 1:00 PM ON SUNDAY
Due to the expected weather conditions continuing until the afternoon hours on Sunday, in order to prevent disruptions in traffic flow on critical road sections, from 1:00 PM on Friday, February 21 (today) until 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, heavy vehicles (except for vehicles that should not experience delays in the supply process) such as trucks, tractors, and tankers will not be allowed to use the D-100 and D-750 State Roads as well as the TEM and Northern Marmara Highways, covering the provinces of Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Bolu, and Ankara. During this period, it is important for drivers to comply with traffic signs and signals and to prefer alternative routes.
