Entry to forest areas in Mersin has been prohibited between May 15 and October 30 to prevent forest fires.

In Mersin, a ban on entering forested areas has been imposed to prevent forest fires that may occur due to rising temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds during the summer months.

ENTRY TO FORESTED AREAS HAS BEEN BANNED

In a statement made by the Mersin Governorship, it was announced that entry to forested areas across the province is prohibited between May 15 and October 30, 2026. Under the decision, only authorized hunting activities will be allowed.

MAKING FIRE AND BARBECUING ARE BANNED

Lighting fires, using barbecues and samovars in and around forested areas is also included in the ban. Additionally, the use of fireworks, wish balloons, and similar flammable materials within a 4-kilometer distance of forests will not be permitted.

EQUIPMENT THAT PRODUCES SPARKS IS ALSO BANNED

In the governor's statement, it was emphasized that burning vegetation for the purpose of clearing stubble, vineyards, gardens, and fields is prohibited. It was reported that the use of equipment that can produce sparks, such as welding machines and angle grinders, in open areas within and around forests has also been banned.

PROCEDURES WILL BE APPLIED TO THOSE WHO DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE RULES

It was announced that judicial and administrative actions will be taken against those who act contrary to the decisions made, under the Turkish Penal Code, the Misdemeanor Law, and the Forestry Law.
