The leader of the New Welfare Party, Fatih Erbakan, stated, "From now on, we have two clear positions. One is that we will no longer be together with the People's Alliance. Because what has been tried should not be tried again. We tried once, and there was no sincere approach. The likelihood of encountering the same result is very high. At the same time, we also express that our candidacy for the presidency is clear."

President of the New Welfare Party, Erbakan, made statements regarding the agenda in a program he attended on NOW TV.
Erbakan stated that as the New Welfare Party, they are against the Kanal Istanbul project and that they have also prepared a booklet explaining why this project should not be implemented, saying, "We see Kanal Istanbul as a major profit project, a project for creating profit. It will cause harm to the environment, ecology, and water basins. Additionally, you will increase the population of Istanbul, which is already 16 million, to 20 million, further depopulating Anatolia. On the contrary, we need to ensure the flow to Anatolia and rural areas. You will bring 20 million people to an area that is a first-degree earthquake zone. Instead of investing in employment, production, and exports, you are dealing with Kanal Istanbul. It is a harmful and unnecessary project in every respect. We have also published a booklet on why Kanal Istanbul should not be built. We believe that instead of dealing with Kanal Istanbul, we should focus on unemployment and earthquake risks." he said.
"WE WILL NOT BE TOGETHER WITH THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE"
Regarding the People's Alliance process, Erbakan made statements emphasizing that they will not rejoin the alliance, saying:
"We are not regretful about the process on May 14. We thought that if we could still get our principles accepted by the current ruling structure, and if we could ensure their implementation as soon as possible, we would provide a benefit to the nation. The nation has an urgent need for these, and we thought that a structure already in power should implement them. We tried this. If we hadn't tried, it would have remained in our minds. However, unfortunately, they did not act sincerely, and they did not fulfill this. They were in a state of being stuck to win the election. We put forth the agreement and said we support under these conditions. But unfortunately, they did not fulfill this. Right now, because they are not meeting these conditions, workers, civil servants, and retirees are in a miserable state. From now on, we have two clear stances. One is that we will no longer be together with the People's Alliance. Because what has been tried once should not be tried again. We tried once, and there was no sincere approach. The likelihood of facing the same result is very high. At the same time, we express that our candidacy for the presidency is also clear. Because we withdrew from candidacy in favor of Mr. Erdoğan once, but we will not do such a thing again. This would not be a correct approach politically or logically. As the president of the party, we have expressed that we will be candidates for the presidency as someone who aspires to govern Turkey."
