A conflict broke out between Ethiopian and Kenyan fishermen. As a result of the conflict, 13 people lost their lives, 3 were injured, and 22 went missing. Additionally, 15 boats were stolen.

Clashes broke out between Ethiopian and Kenyan fishermen in the Lopeimukat and Natira regions near the Omo River along the Kenya-Ethiopia border.

13 DEAD, 3 INJURED, 22 MISSING

As a result of the clashes, 13 Ethiopians lost their lives, and 3 Ethiopians were injured. 22 Kenyans are missing.

15 BOATS STOLEN

Kenya's Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai stated that the clashes erupted last Saturday evening, and 15 boats were stolen. Lomorukai announced that 6 fishermen from Ethiopia's Dasenech ethnic group were rescued and returned to their country.

ADDITIONAL SECURITY FORCES DEPLOYED

Kenya's Interior Minister Kipchumba Murkomen announced that additional security forces have been deployed to the border and that they are in contact with the Ethiopian side to work towards establishing peace between the two communities.
