"GREEK FEAR OF TURKS CONTINUES IN GREEK DOMESTIC POLITICS" Answering the question about the influence of Turkish fear and anti-Turkish sentiment in Greek domestic politics, Dr. Ayşe Küçük, a faculty member of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul Gelişim University, stated, "The fear of Turks continues in Greek domestic politics. It seems that it will continue in the future as well. The main issue here is that Greek identity, Greek national identity, was established as anti-Turkish and anti-Ottoman and expanded eastward throughout history, gaining territory against the Ottoman Empire. Today, this four-century Ottoman rule in Greece is already referred to as "Turkokrasi" and is also considered a very dark period in which Greek identity was suppressed. In fact, we see in history books that they even erased the period when Ottoman rule existed. Therefore, it should be said that these identities, which are constantly constructed as oppositional, still play a central role in the conflict between Turkey and Greece."
