A fire broke out in a top-floor apartment of a building in Antalya, trapping Ramazan Uz and Deniz Yılmaz inside. They climbed out the window and clung to the railing bars, waiting to be rescued. Uz and Yılmaz were saved by the fire department's swift intervention, while the apartment became uninhabitable in the fire.
Two people trapped in a fire in an apartment in Antalya were rescued by the fire department after climbing out of a window and holding onto the railing bars.
A fire broke out around 09:00 in an apartment on the terrace floor of a 5-story building in the Üçgen neighborhood of Muratpaşa district. The flames spread quickly, engulfing the entire home. Witnesses who saw the thick smoke and flames rising from the windows reported the incident to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, numerous police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
EXPLODING GLASS SCATTERED AROUND
Meanwhile, Ramazan Uz and Deniz Yılmaz, who were inside the home, climbed out of the window in a panic as the flames surrounded them and came closer. The two individuals, hanging onto the railing bars, waited desperately to be rescued. Firefighters arriving at the scene reached Uz and Yılmaz using a ladder truck. As Ramazan Uz and Deniz Yılmaz were being lowered into the basket, the flames suddenly intensified, and exploding glass scattered around.
FIRE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL
Uz and Yılmaz, who were face to face with death, were safely lowered and rescued from their position thanks to the timely and successful intervention of the teams. The two individuals affected by the smoke were taken to the hospital after medical team intervention. The fire was brought under control with the fire department's intervention, but the home became uninhabitable.
"EVERYTHING EXPLODED WITH A LOUD NOISE"
Ali Dumlupınar, a neighbor, said, 'I live on the 9th floor of the opposite building. When I went out to the balcony, I saw smoke coming from the apartment across. As the flames came toward the two young men, they hung down. The fire department arrived just in time and brought them down. Everything exploded with a loud noise and fell to the ground. We were very scared too. We came downstairs fearing it would spread with the wind.'
Teams have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
