American actor Devin Harjes, known for his roles in "Boardwalk Empire" and "Daredevil," passed away at the age of 41 in New York due to cancer. The news of his death was announced by his representative.
"Boardwalk Empire" and "Daredevil" star Devin Harjes has passed away at the age of 41. The news of his death was confirmed to NBC News by his representative. It was reported that Harjes was diagnosed with cancer during the winter and died at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York due to complications related to this illness. His representatives did not share any further details regarding his condition.
"HE WAS GENEROUS AND KIND"
In a statement, Harjes' representative said: "He was an artist who gave 100% to every role and practiced his art with great faith. He was generous, kind, and understanding in his personality. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was a wonderful rider and had a magical bond with animals."
Growing up in West Texas, Harjes began his career on the Dallas-Fort Worth theater scene after studying acting in college. He later moved to New York to continue his artistic life there.
TELEVISION AND FILM CAREER
Harjes portrayed boxing legend Jack Dempsey in the second season of "Boardwalk Empire." He appeared in nine episodes as Pete Baylor, a member of a drug cartel, in the Netflix series "Manifest." In "Daredevil," he played the character Oscar, a nurse at Rikers Island, and in "Gotham," he portrayed Clyde, a bank security guard. He also appeared in productions such as "Blue Bloods," "Orange Is the New Black," "Elementary," and "FBI."

Born in Lubbock, Texas, in 1983, Harjes first became interested in horses. However, he left that interest behind and stepped into acting on the Dallas-Fort Worth theater stages. He then moved to New York, where he participated in student films and off-Broadway productions. He won the "Best Actor" award at the Tolentino International Film Festival in Italy for his performance in the film "The Forest is Red." Another notable work of his was "The Boyz of Summer."

Outside of acting, Harjes was also interested in martial arts. The actor, who regularly went to the gym, was known for his humorous remark, "I’d rather get punched in the face in the ring than kicked by a horse."
