A hostage crisis occurred in the Etimesgut district of Ankara.
HE ARGUED WITH HIS WIFE AND TOOK HIS DAUGHTER HOSTAGE WITH A KNIFE
The incident took place in an apartment in Piyade Neighborhood. A person named M.D., after arguing with his wife, took his 3-year-old daughter hostage with a knife. Upon citizens reporting that the suspect was holding the young child by his clothes and dangling her out of the window, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
SPECIAL FORCES STRIKE
Teams taking precautions in the area tried to persuade M.D. but failed. Thereupon, special operations teams intervened and neutralized M.D. by shooting him.
In a statement from the Ankara Police Department regarding the incident, the following expressions were used: "Despite efforts to persuade the individual, he did not surrender and continued his behaviors endangering the child's life, leading to an intervention. As a result of the intervention, the child was rescued, and the individual was neutralized while injured. During the intervention, our auxiliary police dog was injured and is receiving treatment. The judicial process regarding the incident is being meticulously carried out."
