Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who was tried for allegedly making "threatening" statements targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan due to his remarks on his own YouTube channel, was arrested on June 22. In the final hearing of the case held at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court on November 26, Fatih Altaylı was sentenced to five years in prison for "threatening the President." The court reduced this sentence to four years and two months due to good behavior but ruled for the continuation of his detention. Altaylı's case was taken to the appellate court. On the evening of December 29, Fatih Altaylı was released from prison.
