Fenerbahçe announced that Domenico Tedesco has been appointed as the head coach of the Football A Team. A 2-year contract has been signed with the Italian coach.
The new head coach of Fenerbahçe, who parted ways with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, has officially been announced.
A 2-YEAR CONTRACT SIGNED WITH TEDESCO
Fenerbahçe has appointed 39-year-old Italian coach Domenico Tedesco, who most recently worked with the Belgian National Team, as the head coach of the Football A Team. In a statement from the club, it was noted, "A two-year contract has been signed with Mr. Domenico Tedesco covering the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons for the position of head coach of the Football A Team. This is respectfully announced to our investors and the public."
ASSISTANT COACH GÖKHAN GÖNÜL
Along with the announcement, the yellow-navy team stated that Gökhan Gönül has been appointed as Tedesco's assistant.
TEDESCO'S CAREER
Domenico Tedesco is a German football coach of Italian descent. Born in 1985, Tedesco began his career in 2008 as an assistant coach in the VfB Stuttgart youth team.
He had his first professional experience in 2017 at Erzgebirge Aue, where he saved the team from relegation. In the same year, he took over Schalke 04 and became one of the youngest coaches in Bundesliga at the age of 32. In his first season with Schalke, he finished the league in second place, achieving qualification for the Champions League. Later, in 2019, he managed Spartak Moscow, and then in 2021, he moved to RB Leipzig, where he won the 2022 DFB-Pokal. Since February 2023, he has been the head coach of the Belgian National Team. Tedesco is known for his modern and tactically flexible understanding of football.
