Ekrem İmamoğlu, the dismissed mayor of Istanbul, who is currently detained in Silivri, has applied to attend the funeral of Ferdi Zeyrek, who passed away after being electrocuted while receiving treatment in the hospital.
The late Mayor of Manisa, Ferdi Zeyrek, will be laid to rest tomorrow. Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul and the presidential candidate of the CHP, who is currently detained at the Marmara Prison in Silivri, has also applied to the Ministry of Justice through his lawyers to attend the funeral.
In the application petition submitted through lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan, it was stated, "Dear Authority, my client Ekrem İmamoğlu wishes to attend the funeral ceremony of the late Ferdi Zeyrek, who passed away while serving as the Mayor of Manisa from the party he has been politically allied with for many years. It is of great importance for my client to attend this ceremony due to both personal closeness and political responsibility. Therefore, we respectfully request that the necessary permission be granted for my client to participate in the funeral ceremony."
DETAILS OF FERDI ZEYREK'S FUNERAL
A ceremony will be held in front of the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality at 11:00 AM tomorrow for Zeyrek, who passed away at Hafsa Sultan Hospital of Manisa Celal Bayar University. After the ceremony, his body will be taken to Hatuniye Mosque. Following the noon prayer to be held there, his body will be brought to Cumhuriyet Square with a ceremony, and the funeral prayer will be performed in Cumhuriyet Square.
After the funeral prayer, Zeyrek's body, who passed away at the age of 48, will be buried in the family cemetery at Çatal Cemetery in the Şehzadeler district.
