Ferhat Gündoğdu has become the new president of the Central Referee Board.

The Turkish Football Federation announced the new president of the Central Referee Board. The new president of the CRB is Ferhat Gündoğdu.

The statement from the Federation and the names in Gündoğdu's team are as follows; "The Turkish Football Federation, with the Board of Directors Meeting held on July 23, 2024, has decided to appoint the following president and members to the Central Referee Board in accordance with Article 43 of the TFF Statute and Article 3 of the Central Referee Board Directive:

Gündoğdu, who previously served as the president of the CRB during Nihat Özdemir's term, resigned from his position in April 2022.

Ferhat Gündoğdu, who previously served as the president of the CRB during Nihat Özdemir's presidency of the TFF, had removed 13 top-level Super League referees such as Cüneyt Çakır and Fırat Aydınus from their positions. Later, the decision of the Arbitration Board overturned and the referees returned to their duties.

WHICH REFEREES WERE REMOVED?

Of the 18 referees removed from their positions by the CRB at that time, 13 were refereeing in the Super League. The names of the 13 Super League referees are as follows: Cüneyt Çakır, Ali Palabıyık, Aldulkadir Bitigen, Fırat Aydınus, Bahattin Şimşek, Burak Şeker, Suat Arslanboğa, Hüseyin Göçek, Mert Güzenge, Tugay Kaan Numanoğlu, Alper Ulusoy Halis Özkahya. Özgür Yankaya was only appointed as a VAR referee.

WHO IS FERHAT GÜNDOĞDU?

Ferhat Gündoğdu received his undergraduate education in business administration and management at the Turkish Military Academy from 1987 to 1991. He studied sports management at Ankara University from 2002 to 2004 and business administration and management at Atatürk University from 2005 to 2007. He later received his doctorate in sports management from Ankara University in 2014.

Ferhat Gündoğdu served as a member of the Central Referee Board under the presidency of Sabri Çelik in 2019. On October 19, 2021, he was appointed as a member of the Central Referee Board after the resignation of Metin Tokat. Ferhat Gündoğdu served as the member responsible for education in the CRB within the TFF.
