Özgür Özel harshly reacted to the suspension of party memberships of 9 deputies and their referral to disciplinary proceedings with a request for definitive expulsion. Özel said, "Those without mandates appointed by the AK Party as 'invalid' cannot serve as Chairpersons in the CHP. Our deputies were elected by the people, but only the people can remove them from office. The appointed ones cannot establish a parallel CHP within this party. This coup will be repelled, and the CHP will be governed by the elected, not the appointed."
Özgür Özel reacted strongly to the expulsion demands of the administration of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP General Chairmanship seat with the court's absolute nullity decision. Stating that it was unlawful to refer 9 MPs close to him to the disciplinary committee with a demand for definitive expulsion, Özel said that the people elect the MPs.
"THE NULLITY ADMINISTRATION UNLAWFULLY SEEKS TO REFER OUR 9 MPS TO THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE"
Özel used the following statements in his statement: "Those without mandates appointed as 'Nullity' by the AK Party cannot serve as General Chairman in CHP… The nullity administration, appointed for the continuation of Erdoğan's rule, unlawfully seeks to refer our 9 MPs to the disciplinary committee.
In the honorable and combative history of the Republican People's Party, those who defend democracy and the will of the organization will be remembered with pride. Those who usurp power and walk with fear and oppression will be recalled with shame. We will continue to defend the voice of the organization and the will of our members against those trying to take over the father's home. CHP is not the party of those who receive approval from the Palace or prop up the Palace; it is the party of those who struggle by paying the price.
"THE PEOPLE ELECTED OUR MP, THE PEOPLE WILL REMOVE THEM FROM OFFICE"
The people elected our MPs, but only the people can remove them from office. Appointees cannot form a parallel CHP in this party. This coup will be repelled, and CHP will be governed by the elected, not the appointed."
EXPULSION DEMAND FOR 9 NAMES
Meanwhile, CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Müslim Sarı announced the MPs referred to the disciplinary committee with an expulsion demand as follows: "Our Balıkesir MP Ensar Aytekin, our Mersin MP Ali Mahir Başarır, our Istanbul MP Gökhan Günaydın, our Bursa MP Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu, our Istanbul MP Özgür Karabat, our Ankara MP Umut Akdoğan, our Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba, our Istanbul MP Turan Taşkın Özer, and our Adana MP Burhanettin Bulut. These colleagues were subject to a decision we made based on the indictments, within our understanding of clean politics to form our purification policy. The judicial process is ongoing, criminal cases continue. In the coming period, these colleagues will have to defend themselves before the judiciary. They will come back acquitted. Our door will remain open to our colleagues after they are acquitted."
