Dmitriy Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, criticized the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, emphasizing that the diplomatic process is merely a facade and that everyone is aware of a different outcome than expected.
Russia's Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitriy Medvedev made striking assessments about the attacks against Iran in a statement on the social media platform X. Medvedev claimed that the West's peace rhetoric is used to conceal the realities, stating that the negotiations were merely "a facade."
In his post, Medvedev said, "The peace force is once again at work. The negotiations with Iran were just a facade. Everyone knew this. So, whose patience is greater to wait for the enemy's end? The USA is only 249 years old. The Persian Empire was established 2,500 years ago. Let's see what happens in 100 years."
As reactions rose in the international community following the attacks, Medvedev's statements stood out for highlighting the historical background of Iran, one of the world's oldest states. His words also brought Russia's approaches to the current tensions between the West and Iran back into focus.
ATTACKS BY THE USA AND ISRAEL ON IRAN AND IRAN'S RETALIATIONS
While the negotiation process between Iran and the USA continues, Israel and the USA carried out joint attacks on Iran in the morning hours.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that Israel has launched a "preventive attack" on Iran. US President Donald Trump also stated that they have initiated "a major operation" against Iran.
As part of the attacks, the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Qom, Tabriz, Bushehr, Kermanshah, and Ilam were targeted.
As Israel and Iran closed their airspace, a state of emergency was declared throughout Israel, and sirens were sounded. Warnings were issued directing the Israeli public to shelters before Iran's counterattacks.
The Iranian army announced that it has launched counterattacks against Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones in response to the attacks by the USA and Israel.
Iran targeted simultaneous US bases in countries such as Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan with missile attacks, while the US naval base in Bahrain was hit.
