AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik strongly reacted to the Israeli government's decision to recognize the 1915 events as 'genocide'. Çelik stated, "Netanyahu and his team are a genocidal network. They continue to commit crimes to extend the genocide crimes in Gaza to the West Bank. This decision is also an effort by the Netanyahu government to cover up their atrocities against Palestinians."
NAK Party Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik reacted to the Israeli government's decision to recognize the 1915 events as "genocide" in a post on his social media account.
"NETANYAHU AND HIS TEAM ARE A GENOCIDAL NETWORK"
In his post, Çelik stated, "Political networks trying to cover up their own oppression with political lies have been seen many times in history."
Targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, Çelik said, "Netanyahu and his team are a genocidal network. They continue to commit crimes to spread the genocide crimes in Gaza to the West Bank."
"AN EFFORT TO COVER UP THE OPPRESSION AGAINST PALESTINIANS"
Criticizing the Israeli government's decision, Çelik used the phrases, "The so-called decision adopted by the Netanyahu government regarding the 1915 events is an effort to cover up their oppression against Palestinians."
Arguing that the decision is far from legal and historical reality, Çelik assessed, "This so-called decision of the genocidal network is far from legal and historical reality. No statement made by this genocidal network holds any value before history and the conscience of humanity."
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Israeli government unanimously decided to recognize the events related to the Armenian deportation of 1915-1916 as "genocide."
It was reported that the proposal submitted by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar was unanimously approved in the cabinet. The decision needs to be approved by the parliament to take effect. Foreign Minister Sa'ar stated after the decision, "In my opinion, it is time for Israel, as a Jewish state, to officially recognize this. It is never too late to do the right thing."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview last year, declared for the first time as prime minister of Israel that he recognized the 1915 events as "genocide."
This latest decision was made at the official cabinet level by the Israeli government. There had been previous attempts in this direction in the Israeli parliament, but they had not resulted in an official vote.
