Following the lifting of the ban on fishing with handlines, citizens in the Cide district of Kastamonu took their fishing rods and headed to the sea. Those who cast their lines in the Black Sea filled their buckets with horse mackerel.
After the ban on fishing with handlines in the seas ended on August 15, fishermen who set out into the Black Sea returned to the shore with the season's first bonito.

Bonito, which took their place on the stalls in Cide district of Kastamonu, which has a coastline on the Black Sea, made both fishermen and citizens smile. With the lifting of the ban, amateur fishermen also took their fishing lines and rushed to fish by the seaside. Fishermen filled the beaches left empty in Cide district due to the rough sea. Amateur fishermen caught buckets full of horse mackerel.
“RIGHT NOW, ANYONE WHO CASTS THEIR LINE CATCHES FISH”
Metin Oktay Çevik, who does amateur fishing in the district, said, "We are experiencing an abundant fishing season this year. After the sea started to cool down, fish started to appear 2-3 days ago. There are especially a lot of horse mackerel and sprat. I came to fish at 06:00 in the morning, but the fish started to appear after 07:00. I constantly come to this area both to swim and to fish. But the fish started to appear 2-3 days ago. It wasn't there before; when the air and sea cooled, the fish appeared. Right now, anyone who casts their line catches fish. There are big waves, so some of the fish are spilled on the shore while pulling in the line. After 07:00, I caught nearly 4 kilograms of fish in a short time. Other friends who cast their lines also filled their buckets; they caught fish too," he said.

Emircan Kaya, who stated that they expect the amount of fish on the stalls to increase with the fishing season starting on September 1, said, "Today we are experiencing a bountiful day. Due to the north-easterly wind blowing for 2 days, the sea cooled, and therefore there is an abundance of fish. Not everyone who casts their line comes up empty; a lot of fish are being caught. I came around 06:00 and caught about 4 kilograms of fish. Right now, everyone who casts their line has caught about 3-4 kilograms of fish. Hopefully, fish will be abundant in the sea this year," he said.
