Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the martyrdom of special operations police officer Emre Albayrak, who participated in a drug operation in Çekmeköy, and it has been learned that they are from the family of the individual who carried out the attack.
On December 8, in a narcotics operation at a house in Çekmeköy, 27-year-old police officer Emre Albayrak, who was seriously injured due to gunfire, was martyred in the hospital he was taken to. The five individuals who were detained in connection with this incident have completed their procedures at the Homicide Bureau of the Public Order Branch Directorate.

After the attack, the wife, mother, father Cemal A, brother Çetin A, and his wife of Ramazan A, who was killed by police gunfire, were taken under police escort to the Anadolu Courthouse in Kartal.
The five suspects, whose statements were taken by the prosecutor's office, were referred to the on-duty magistrate for arrest on charges of "violating Law No. 6136" and "resisting the performance of duty."
The court ruled for the arrest of the five suspects on the charges against them. Additionally, arrest warrants were issued for three of the suspects for the crime of "manufacturing and trafficking of narcotic or stimulant substances."
WHAT HAPPENED?
On December 8, at around 07:30 in the morning, law enforcement teams conducted a narcotics operation at a house on Adnan Kahveci Street in Aydınlar Neighborhood, Çekmeköy. Police officer Emre Albayrak, who was seriously injured due to gunfire from the house, was martyred in the hospital.
ASSAILANT WAS KILLED
In the ensuing clash, the assailant Ramazan A. (35) was killed, while Çetin A. (27) and Cemal A. (58) were captured.
It was determined that father Cemal A had 21 criminal records for "intentional injury," while son Çetin A had records for "threat," "insult," "deliberately endangering public safety," "intentional injury," "endangering traffic safety," "resisting the performance of duty," "ill-treatment," "child abduction," "purchasing, accepting, or possessing narcotic or stimulant substances for use, or using narcotic or stimulant substances," and "manufacturing and trafficking of narcotic or stimulant substances."
It was also found that Ramazan A, who was killed in the clash, had 10 criminal records for "endangering traffic safety," "intentional injury," "threat," "insult," "theft through information technology," and "ill-treatment."
It was learned that the martyred 27-year-old police officer Emre Albayrak was married, had started his duty in Hakkari six years ago, and had been serving in Istanbul since 2022.
In a statement from the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that the incident occurred during a search operation related to an ongoing investigation at the house in Çekmeköy.
ASSAILANT FIRED 11 SHOTS AT POLICE
Additionally, it was learned that the police teams going to the operation rang the doorbell of Ramazan A's apartment, but the door was not opened. When the police teams were about to break down the door with a battering ram, Ramazan A opened the door and fired 11 shots at the police, during which Emre Albayrak was injured.
During the searches conducted by the police in the suspects' apartments, a pistol, a precision scale, a 90-centimeter-long yellow sword, a karambit known as an Eastern martial arts knife were found in Ramazan A's house, while a quantity of ready-to-sell drugs was seized in Çetin A's apartment.
