The death toll from the floods caused by monsoon rains in Pakistan is rising. According to a statement from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), floods and water inundations occurred in various provinces of the country due to monsoon rains over the last 10 days. The statement recorded that at least 75 people have died and 130 have been injured, noting that the highest number of deaths, with 28 fatalities, occurred in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province between June 26 and July 6.
Additionally, it was reported that 22 people lost their lives in Punjab, 15 in Sindh, 10 in Balochistan, and 4 in Azad Kashmir. During the monsoon rains, it was also reported that 192 households were affected and 91 livestock were swept away by the floods. Rescue teams conducted 19 rescue operations in the disaster areas, saving 233 people.
In a statement from the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) of the NDMA, it was noted that the impact of the rains in the country is expected to increase, and an alert has been issued until July 10 for heavy rain, floods, and water inundations.
