Ayşe Barım, who appeared before the judge for the first time in the Gezi Park case, denied all the charges against her. Stating that she has experienced health issues in prison, Barım said, "My whole body is bruised, I want my right to live back." The prosecutor requested that Barım's detention continue. The court panel found this request justified and decided to extend Barım's detention. The trial has been postponed to October 1st.
The first hearing of the case against player manager Ayşe Barım, who is being tried on the charge of "aiding an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey" on the grounds that she directed the Gezi Park protests, was held today at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court.
"I DID NOT DIRECT ANYONE"
In her emotional defense during the hearing, Barım denied all the accusations.
Speaking with tears in her eyes, Barım stated, "I did not direct anyone. I am not their boss; I am their manager. I meet with my actors every day; it is part of my job. I went there when I saw they were there. I was there with the same stance as during the July 15 rally or the February 6 earthquake," she expressed. Barım also mentioned the health issues she has experienced in prison, saying, "I have six different ailments in my heart, I have a brain aneurysm. My whole body is bruised. Please let me, I just want to live healthily. I want my right to live back," she said. The defendant stated that she was not allowed to undergo tests before the surgery and that the conditions were dangerous for her health.
HER DETENTION WILL CONTINUE
The prosecution requested that Barım's detention continue. The court panel accepted this request and decided to continue Barım's detention. The hearing was adjourned to October 1.
