Following the school attack in Kahramanmaraş that resulted in the loss of 9 lives, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, and Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu visited the region.
A gun attack was carried out at Ayser Çalık Middle School in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş. Numerous health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. In the attack, 9 people lost their lives and 13 people were injured.
3 MINISTERS WENT TO THE REGION
Following the incident that plunged Turkey into mourning, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, and Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu hastily went to the region.
"WE ARE MONITORING THE CONDITION OF OUR INJURED"
Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, in a statement from his social media account regarding the armed attack, said, "I pray to God for mercy for our citizens who lost their lives in the armed attack that occurred at a school in Kahramanmaraş, and patience for their grieving families. The treatment of our injured continues in our hospitals; we are closely monitoring their conditions. I convey my get-well wishes to all our citizens affected by the incident. May our nation's head be well."
GOVERNOR: THE ATTACKER IS AN 8TH GRADE STUDENT
Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer announced that in the attack, 4 people, 3 of them students and one a teacher, lost their lives, and 20 people were injured. Stating that a child brought weapons in his backpack into the school, Ünlüer said, "An 8th grade student child, with weapons he brought in his backpack, entered 2 classrooms where students were present without targeting anyone and caused deaths and injuries by firing. Unfortunately, we have 4 fatalities. One of them is a teacher, 3 are students. We have 20 injured. 4 of them are currently in surgery, we think they are seriously injured. Our work continues. We hope that our injured brothers and sisters recover their health as soon as possible. There is no other negative situation in any other school."
SEVEN PROSECUTORS ASSIGNED, BROADCAST BAN DECISION TAKEN
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that an investigation has been launched regarding the attack and 3 Deputy Chief Public Prosecutors and 4 Public Prosecutors have been assigned.
On the other hand, a broadcast ban decision was taken regarding the armed attack. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek stated, "A broadcast ban decision has been taken for the safety of the investigation, and it is important for our press organizations to meticulously comply with the confidentiality of the investigation."
