The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. The court rejected Israel's objections regarding the ICC's jurisdiction. The court also ruled that it has jurisdiction over crimes committed in Palestinian territories. The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber unanimously rejected two objections submitted by Israel regarding its jurisdiction on September 26, 2024. "A DECISION MADE IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY"Evaluating the ICC's decision, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesman Ömer Çelik described the International Criminal Court's unanimous decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as "a decision made in the name of humanity." "THE TWO NAMES WILL EVENTUALLY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR GENOCIDE"Çelik made a statement on social media regarding the International Criminal Court's issuance of arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant. Stating that "the International Criminal Court's unanimous decision to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant is a decision made in the name of humanity," Çelik noted that these two individuals will eventually be held accountable for genocide. Ömer Çelik added, "Describing this decision as antisemitic is an attempt to cover up genocide. This decision is a decision to protect human values." "ISRAEL, ONCE THOUGHT TO BE UNTOUCHABLE, HAS BEEN TOUCHED"There was also a statement from the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, regarding the ICC's decision on Netanyahu. In his statement, Kurtulmuş said, "The arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Netanyahu and Gallant, who are responsible for the genocide in Gaza, is a step of historical significance. After the decision of the International Court of Justice, this decision has touched Israel, which was once thought to be untouchable."
