It was noted that attendees experienced great panic during those moments, with some people taking cover under tables.
CHAOS IN THE HALL: THEY WENT UNDER THE TABLES
According to information reflected in the foreign press, hundreds of guests in the ballroom at the Washington Hilton experienced great fear during the attack. Journalists, politicians, and senior officials tried to protect themselves by throwing themselves to the ground upon hearing the gunshots.
As Secret Service agents drew their weapons and entered the hall, Trump and other senior figures with him were quickly evacuated. It was reported that during the incident, the US President, along with the First Lady and many senior officials, were taken to a secure area.
THE ATTACKER TRIED TO BREACH SECURITY WITH WEAPONS
Officials stated that the attacker attempted to breach the security checkpoint with a long-barreled rifle, a handgun, and numerous knives. After the suspect opened fire, security forces intervened rapidly, neutralizing and apprehending the attacker in a short time. It was reported that a Secret Service agent was saved from injury thanks to a bulletproof vest, while Trump and other guests were unharmed.
PROGRAM CANCELED AFTER THE ATTACK
The dinner organization was interrupted following the attack. The White House Correspondents' Association announced that the event was postponed to a later date. After the incident, Trump praised the intervention of security forces, condemned the attack, and stated that the investigation was ongoing.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
While the FBI and other federal units continue to investigate the attacker's motivation and possible connections, initial findings suggest the suspect acted alone. The emerged images have revealed the severity of the attack and the security reflexes activated within seconds.
