Speaking at the CHP Parliamentary Group Meeting, Özgür Özel made harsh statements regarding the brawl at the party headquarters following the court's absolute nullity decision and the eviction process. Stating that the doors were closed on the day of the incident to protect the youth branches, Özel summarized the current situation within the party by saying, 'People who had never stepped foot in front of the CHP building before showed up with machetes at their waists and stood directly against our youth branches.'
Following the court's annulment decision, the crisis within the CHP deepens and continues. Speaking at the group meeting of his party in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Özgür Özel shared striking details about the process of evacuating the party headquarters and the tension at the door that day.
"THEY CAME WITH TYPES WHO WORK AS BOUNCERS IN BARS"
Stating that police, tear gas, and plastic bullets were used in front of the headquarters, Özel made very serious accusations against some civilians on the opposing side. Özel described the scene they encountered that night with these words:
"With a court order in hand, they came to the front of the headquarters with police, tear gas, and plastic bullets. Types who had worked as bouncers in bars and clubs all night, who had never set foot in front of CHP before, came with machetes at their waists and stood directly opposite our youth branches."
"WE CLOSED THE DOOR TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN"
Responding to the criticism that has been debated for days in the public and within the party—"Those inside closed the door"—Özel argued that this move was a necessary security measure. Emphasizing that all camera footage is available, Özel stated:
"If we hadn't had that door closed, unacceptable incidents would have occurred in this party due to those dubious types who stood opposite the children of our youth branches. By closing that door, we protected our children; by leaning on that door, they inflicted the greatest shame on this party."
"THERE ARE THOSE WALKING WITH THE POWER IN THE FATHER'S HOME"
In the final part of his speech, Özel highlighted the division within the party and described the current situation with the words "Two Republican People's Parties." Stating that his own group under the roof of the TBMM protects the legacy of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and democracy, Özel accused his opponents of cooperating with the government:
"The merit of those sitting here today is to defend democracy, stand by the right and the oppressed, and march towards power. On the other side, there are those who prefer to walk with today's government and occupy the father's home of this party with an unjust and unlawful court decision. We will see this matter and show courage to resolve it swiftly."
