These days, when the temperatures are above seasonal norms, news of forest fires came from 3 provinces. Efforts from the air and land have been initiated to extinguish the fires in Urla in Izmir, Bodrum in Mugla, Cine in Aydin, and Bayramoren in Cankiri.

IZMIR

A fire broke out in the forested area near the residential areas in Cesmealti neighborhood of Urla district in Izmir for reasons yet to be determined. Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry teams were dispatched to the region upon notification. As a precaution, Zeytinlikoy and Ciftlikevler Sites were evacuated due to the fire.

"ENERGY HAS BEEN REDUCED TO SOME EXTENT"

Izmir Governor Suleyman Elban conducted an inspection on the ground and from the air by helicopter in the region and received information from the officials. Elban, speaking to journalists, reminded that 6 fires occurred in the province yesterday, and the most important one took place in Urla.

Elban emphasized the effect of the wind in Cesmealti, saying, "Unfortunately, with the effect of a wind that reaches 50-60 kilometers and changes direction frequently, the fire spread rapidly. Our forest teams intervened in the incident within nine minutes. Currently, we are intervening with 117 construction machines, fire trucks, and water tankers. Our 8 vehicles belonging to the police and 1 TOMA belonging to the gendarmerie are doing a great job here. Because this area is a region where there are factories, hotels, workplaces, and a widespread residential area. They are also making efforts to prevent the fire from causing damage to these areas. In the air, our intervention continues with 5 planes and 12 helicopters. The fire has not been brought under control yet. However, its energy has been reduced to some extent."

1 PERSON DETAINED REGARDING THE FIRE THAT STARTED FROM WELDING WORK

Elban stated that damage assessment studies will be carried out after the fire is extinguished and said, "We evacuated 455 houses and workplaces, and 1630 citizens were evacuated. Currently, the only pleasing aspect is that we have no casualties or injuries. A spark jumped to the grassy area during welding work in a house. The fire that occurred in the grassy area spread rapidly due to the effect of the wind, and unfortunately, this scene emerged. One person who caused the fire and performed welding work is in custody."

MUGLA

People reported that flames were rising from the shrubbery and grassy area near the residential areas in Gundogan neighborhood of Bodrum district in Mugla. Upon notification, numerous teams from Mugla Regional Directorate of Forestry and Bodrum Fire Brigade Group of Mugla Metropolitan Municipality were dispatched to the region. An aircraft is also providing support to extinguish the fire. The teams continue their efforts to bring the fire under control.

Forest and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the region upon notification. Efforts to bring the fire under control continue with the support of helicopters and planes.

CANKIRI

A fire broke out in the forested area in the Kavak village area of Bayramoren district in Cankiri for reasons yet to be determined. Fire brigade teams were dispatched to the region upon notification. The efforts of the fire brigade teams, who have difficulty in intervening in the flames in the rugged terrain, continue. Intervention from the air is also being carried out to extinguish the fire.
