FOREST FIRE CONTINUES IN KARABÜK

The forest fire that started in the village of Çavuşlar, connected to the Safranbolu district of Karabük, has spread to the Ovacık district and has now lasted for 9 hours. In the fire, which has intensified due to the wind, 40 houses have burned so far, and approximately 250 hectares of land have been damaged. The fire continues in an area with a diameter of 20 kilometers, and teams from many provinces have been dispatched to the region. The teams are continuing their efforts to extinguish the fire with great determination.

527 HOUSEHOLDS EVACUATED

As a precaution due to the fire, a total of 527 households have been evacuated, including 36 in the village of Çavuşlar, 451 in the villages of Kamış, Ortaca, Mehterler, Tandır, Davutlar, and Üçbaş, and 40 in the village of Boyalı, connected to the Ovacık district. It has also been reported that 862 people have been evacuated.

Karabük Governor Mustafa Yavuz stated, "We have evacuated 10 of our villages from the central district of Karabük, Ovacık district, and Safranbolu district. In some of our villages, we did not evacuate the entire village but certain neighborhoods, as well as neighborhoods that are in the path of the advancing fire. So far, we have only seen that the fire has affected the houses in one neighborhood of one of our villages. We evacuated the other villages for safety reasons. Hopefully, the fire will not progress further."
