Forest fires breaking out one after another in different regions of Turkey have put teams on alert. While the fight against the flames continues from the air and on the ground in the Kemer district of Antalya, the fires that broke out in the Edremit and Dursunbey districts of Balıkesir were brought under control after intense intervention. As teams continue their work in the regions, an investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the fires.

Forest fires breaking out one after another in different parts of Türkiye caused concern. While the intervention from air and land continues for the fire in the Çıralı area of the Kemer district of Antalya, the fires that broke out in the Edremit and Dursunbey districts of Balıkesir were brought under control as a result of the intense efforts of the teams. Investigations into the causes of the fires are ongoing.

AIR AND LAND INTERVENTION AGAINST FLAMES IN KEMER

A forest fire broke out for a reason not yet determined in the evening hours in the Çıralı area of Ulupınar Neighborhood, affiliated with the Kemer district of Antalya. Following reports from citizens who noticed the smoke, 3 helicopters, 4 water tenders, 2 water supply vehicles, 2 initial response vehicles, 50 technical personnel and fire workers dispatched to the region began extinguishing efforts. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality firefighting teams also supported the efforts.

Local residents also voluntarily participated in the extinguishing activities. While the residents of Çıralı rushed to the point of the flames with fire extinguishers, fire extinguishers were loaded onto the packsaddle of a donkey in the forest and carried across the challenging terrain. Intervention against the fire continued non-stop through the night as well.

IN EDREMIT, THE NORTH-EASTERLY WIND REACHING 70 KILOMETERS PER HOUR GREW THE FIRE

A fire that started in a non-forest area near Kadıköy Neighborhood in the Edremit district of Balıkesir at noon spread to the nearby forested area in a short time. The fire breaking out at the foothills of Kazdağları and at a point close to residential areas caused concern in the region. The strong north-easterly wind exceeding 70 kilometers per hour made extinguishing efforts difficult and increased the risk of the flames spreading.

Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş announced that the fire in the Şıpşıp Dede area was brought under control through the coordinated efforts of the teams. During the intervention in the region, 12 water tenders, 4 planes, 2 helicopters, 8 water tankers and 5 excavators were deployed, and cooling efforts were initiated in the area.

FIRE IN DURSUNBEY UNDER CONTROL

A fire that broke out in a non-forest area near Kurtlar Neighborhood in the Dursunbey district of Balıkesir in the afternoon grew under the influence of the wind and spread to the forested area. The flames were brought under control with the intervention of 4 planes, 4 helicopters and numerous ground teams dispatched to the region.

Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu announced that the fire had been brought under control and thanked the teams fighting on the field. Cooling efforts continue in the region.

CAUSES OF THE FIRES UNDER INVESTIGATION

In the Edremit and Dursunbey districts of Balıkesir, fires that started in non-forest areas and spread to the forest were brought under control and the cooling phase began. In Kemer, Antalya, teams continue their efforts to extinguish the flames non-stop. Investigations initiated to determine the exact causes of the fires at all three locations are ongoing.
