Former AKUT President Nasuh Mahruki was recently detained due to a post he made on social media regarding the Supreme Election Council (YSK). Mahruki was charged with 'publicly disseminating misleading information' and 'publicly insulting judicial authorities.' HE WAS ARRESTEDAs part of the investigation launched against him, he was brought to the courthouse and after giving his statement at the Prosecutor's Office, he was referred to the duty magistrate with a request for arrest. Mahruki was arrested by the magistrate he was referred to. WHAT HAPPENED?Mahruki had stated on November 12 that he would be detained due to a post he made on social media, saying, "Dear Friends, this evening I am having dinner at a kebab restaurant with a group of friends. Police officers in plain clothes, claiming to be from the police, came to my house and said they were here to take me. I am now leaving the restaurant and going home." Mahruki mentioned that he suspected he was being investigated due to his critical post regarding news that the YSK would switch to electronic voting.
