Çiçek stated that he did not expect any accusations against Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler and suggested that the main target of the investigations is Ekrem İmamoğlu. Emphasizing that the CHP should be ready for early elections, Çiçek expressed his opposition to holding the primary election with a single candidate.
Former CHP Member of Parliament Dursun Çiçek evaluated the agenda with Melis Yaşar on Haberler.com. Çiçek stated that the allegations against Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler were a political move, arguing that the real target was Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Çiçek also made assessments regarding the CHP's election process, stating that his party should be prepared for early elections.
"I DON'T THINK THERE WILL BE AN ACCUSATION AGAINST THE MAYOR" Speaking about the suspension of Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, Dursun Çiçek said, "We know that the tenders are conducted by the commission headed by responsible assistants, not by the mayors. Therefore, the Beykoz Mayor is an experienced president who has previously held the position. From that perspective, I don't think anything will come out of this investigation. We advocate for the rule of law, not the law of the powerful. Whoever has committed corruption and irregularities, it is the fundamental duty of those in responsible positions to be held accountable. It is a new file, and we do not know the details."
"I OBJECT TO THE PRIMARY ELECTION BEING SINGLE-CANDIDATE" Making statements regarding the CHP's primary election process, Çiçek said, "We have two strong candidates, Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş. If a political ban comes to İmamoğlu, our backup candidate is Mansur Yavaş. We wanted to enter the primary election, but since this decision was made at a higher level, a second candidate was not requested. Therefore, we struggled to collect signatures. Of course, although I do not find the central committee's opinion very democratic and ethical, I respect it. I have no resentment towards the party. There are reasonable justifications; it has been announced to the public that if a political ban comes to Mr. Ekrem, our candidate will be Mansur Yavaş. If a second candidate enters the primary election and comes out as the second candidate, it would not be well received by party members for someone who did not enter the primary election to surpass a candidate who came out of the primary election. They tried to prevent this. What I object to is the primary election being single-candidate."
