Veysel Tay, the former General Manager of Esenlik AŞ, a subsidiary of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, was detained following a social media post he made regarding an attack at a school in Kahramanmaraş that claimed the lives of 9 people.
POST SPARKING CONTROVERSY
It was learned that upon the post, which contained statements targeting educators, drawing significant public reaction, security teams took action upon the instruction of the Republic Prosecutor's Office.
It was learned that in his post made via WhatsApp status, Tay used expressions towards the perpetrator of the attack, making statements blaming educators, and he deleted the post shortly after due to the reactions. In a subsequent new post, he was seen making general assessments about the education system.
TWO CHARGES BROUGHT
According to information obtained, proceedings were initiated against Tay on allegations of "praising crime and the criminal" and "inciting hatred and hostility among the public." It was reported that the procedures for Tay, who was detained, are continuing at the police department.
