Former Minister of Labour and Social Security Nihad Matkap announced that he has resigned from the CHP. Citing the party leadership's failure to meet the demand for an extraordinary congress and the prolongation of the court process, Matkap argued that the CHP has moved away from its founding values and democratic understanding.
While congress debates continue in the CHP, former Minister of Labor and Social Security and 19th and 20th term Hatay Deputy Nihad Matkap announced that he had resigned from party membership.
REACTION TO THE FAILURE TO MEET THE EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS REQUEST
Explaining the reasons for his resignation, Matkap stated that the delegates of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress had applied for an extraordinary congress with notarized signatures, but the party leadership did not fulfill this request.
Matkap, who also criticized the prolongation of the court process regarding the matter, reported that he had decided to leave the CHP due to the developments.
"THE CHP HAS MOVED AWAY FROM ITS FOUNDING VALUES"
Arguing that the CHP has moved away from its founding values and democratic understanding, Matkap emphasized that his resignation was not based on personal reasons.
Matkap stated that despite leaving his party, he would maintain his commitment to the Republic, democracy, the rule of law, and justice.
