Oktay Saral, who resigned from his post as Senior Advisor to the President, used harsh language regarding the fund fraud. Reacting to citizens' savings remaining locked within the system, Saral called for collections from those carrying out organized stock exchange fraud and for the return of victims' principal. Oktay Saral said, "Our people's trust in institutions has been severely wounded. The way to regain this trust is to reveal not a few low-level officials, but those who pocketed billions."
Following his resignation from the post of Chief Advisor to the President, Oktay Saral made striking statements regarding the fund fraud. Saral drew attention both to the grievance experienced by investors and to the need for those responsible to be held accountable.
"NO OFFICE, NO TITLE CAN SAVE YOU"
Sharply criticizing those responsible in the fund fraud, Saral emphasized that the nation's labor and savings must be protected. Stating that no office or title can absolve anyone of responsibility, Saral used the following words: "Hey, you who fear neither Allah nor feel shame before people! Those who steal the sweat, labor, and savings of our nation should know this well: Our nation is noting down everything you have done, one by one. No office, no title will save you from being condemned in the conscience of this nation!"
"WHILE OUR PRESIDENT IS WAGING A STRUGGLE, DIRTY BUSINESS IS BEING CARRIED OUT"
Also referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his statement, Saral said that the dirty relationships he claimed were linked to the fund fraud were harming the struggle. Saral continued his criticism of those responsible with the following words: "While our President is waging a struggle against the entire world, the dirty business and relationships you are conducting here are casting a shadow over this struggle; know that you can neither account for this with your offices, your seats of power, or your wealth, nor escape this responsibility."
"THOSE WHO HAD ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE AND EXITED THE SYSTEM MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE"
Noting that citizens who invested in the funds acted in reliance on the supervision and control of institutions, Saral emphasized that accepting investment risk is not the same thing as money remaining locked within the system. Drawing attention to those whom he alleged exited the system with advance knowledge, Saral stated that the grievance suffered cannot be blamed on ordinary investors: "Our citizens invested in these funds trusting a system that had the control, supervision, and signature of many institutions. They may have taken on market risk; however, no one could have foreseen that their money would remain locked inside. The account of those who had advance knowledge and exited the system cannot be charged to innocent citizens who invested! The requirement of justice is clear: recovery must be made from those engaged in organized stock exchange fraud, and citizens' principal must be returned. Our people's trust in institutions has been severely wounded. The way to regain this trust is not to expose a few low-level officials, but to expose those who pocketed billions. Regardless of their office, title, or political identity, everyone who steals what rightfully belongs to the nation must be held accountable before the law."
