The sad news came from Tunceli in the evening. In the accident that occurred as a result of the overturning of an armored military vehicle, 4 of our soldiers were martyred. The sad news was announced by the Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya.

MINISTER YERLİKAYA: MAY OUR MARTYRS' RANKS BE HIGH

The accident occurred between the villages of Kuşluca and Bilgeç, connected to Ovacık district of Tunceli. According to the information received, the armored vehicle with license plate number 62 JAA 408 rolled off the cliff for an unknown reason. While 3 soldiers were martyred at the scene of the accident, 2 soldiers were seriously injured. Upon notification, soldiers, 112, AFAD and UMKE teams were dispatched to the region by helicopter. The injured 2 soldiers were transported to Elazığ Fırat University Hospital by helicopter after the initial intervention at the scene. Despite all the interventions made here, another soldier was martyred. Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, who shared about the incident, announced that 4 of our soldiers were martyred. In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya used the following expression: May our nation rest in peace. Jandarma Specialist Sergeants Ömer Eroğlu, Mehmet Aykanat, Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı and Jandarma Specialist Corporal Doğan Kızılateş were martyred as a result of the overturning of the armored vehicle during their duty in Tunceli Ovacık district. Jandarma Sergeant Muhammet Koyuncu was injured in the accident. I extend my condolences to our martyrs; I offer my condolences to their families, our heroic Gendarmerie Organization, and our nation. A MOMENT OF SILENCE WILL BE OBSERVED BEFORE FLAG CEREMONIES IN SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE

Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, announced that a minute of silence will be observed before flag ceremonies in all schools for the soldiers who were martyred in Tunceli's Ovacık district and all martyrs. Tekin, in his social media post, expressed his sorrow for the news of the martyrdom of the soldiers in the traffic accident that occurred during their duty in Tunceli's Ovacık district and said, "As the Ministry of National Education, we will observe a minute of silence before the flag ceremony on September 9, the first day of the 2024-2025 academic year, in all primary and secondary education institutions affiliated with our Ministry in all 81 provinces in order to keep the cherished memories of our children who fell on the pure homeland alive, to show our gratitude to our heroic martyrs, and to equip our students with love for the homeland spiritually, physically, and mentally. May the souls of our esteemed martyrs rest in peace."

ZONGULDAK RECEIVES THE FIRE OF MARTYRDOM

The sad news of Jandarma Specialist Sergeant Ömer Eroğlu (30), one of the 4 soldiers martyred in Tunceli, reached his father's house in Zonguldak. Turkish flags were hung in the house, and the relatives of the martyr shed tears. It was learned that Eroğlu had been married to Gülcan Eroğlu for 4 years and had 5 siblings.

OSMANİYE RECEIVES THE FIRE OF MARTYRDOM

The military delegation that came to the father's house in the village of Kümbet, connected to the district of Kümbet in Tunceli, gave the sad news to the mother Reşidiye Aykanat. Health teams intervened in Reşidiye Aykanat, who fainted with the news of her son's martyrdom. It was learned that the martyr had lost his father Ercan Aykanat about two years ago and that he was single and the eldest of two siblings. Turkish flags were hung in the martyr's father's house and the street, and neighbors and relatives flocked to the house for condolences.

The family of Jandarma Specialist Onbaşı Doğan Kızılateş, who was martyred during his duty in Tunceli's Ovacık district, was informed in Tokat. Military officials who came to the house of Tacettin Kızılateş, who lives in Yunus Emre Neighborhood, delivered the news of his son's martyrdom. Upon hearing the news, health teams intervened in Gülten Kızılateş, the mother of the martyr. It was learned that the mother of the martyr went to her sister's house in Konya. It was stated that Kızılateş was single and had two sisters. Tokat Governor Abdullah Köklü, AK Party Tokat Deputy Cüneyt Aldemir, MHP Tokat Deputy Yücel Bulut, Tokat Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu, and protocol members also came to the martyr's father's house and expressed their condolences to the family.
