A fire of unknown origin broke out in a cultivated wheat field in Büyükçekmece, causing panic. While numerous firefighting teams intervened in the flames, which showed a tendency to spread due to the wind, intensive efforts are being made to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding lands.
In Istanbul's Büyükçekmece district, due to an undetermined reason, flames suddenly erupted in an unharvested wheat field awaiting harvest.
NUMEROUS FIREFIGHTING TEAMS DEPLOYED
When nearby citizens noticed the flames and thick smoke rising into the sky and quickly reported it, many teams from the Istanbul Fire Department were deployed to the crisis point. The teams arriving at the scene initiated a comprehensive firefighting effort from all directions to bring the flames engulfing the field under control.
WIND INCREASES RISK OF SPREAD
Weather conditions in the area became the biggest factor complicating the firefighters' work. Due to the strong wind, there is a possibility of the flames expanding their area and spreading to neighboring fields.
