Özge Özpirinçci commemorated her father Kadri Emrah Özpirinçci on the third anniversary of his death. The actress, who said that her daughter Mercan dreamed of diving with her grandfather, expressed her longing with the words, “Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. I’m glad you were, Dad.”
Özge Özpirinçci published an emotional message for her father Kadri Emrah Özpirinçci, who passed away on October 12, 2023, while battling ALS. The actress recounted a conversation she had with her daughter Mercan, recalling something her father had said to them.
“MY ONLY WISH IS THAT YOU DON’T FORGET ME”
Özpirinçci began her message with her father’s words: “‘After I die, my only wish is that you don’t forget me,’ you had said.”
The actress, describing how Mercan dived throughout the summer and brought up shells from the bottom of the sea, compared her daughter’s fascination to her own childhood. Recalling that she used to tag along when her father went diving, Özpirinçci said she told Mercan, “Grandpa Emrah would have really loved seeing you like this.”

The actress, noting that after the summer, when they returned to Istanbul, her daughter spoke about her dreams, explained that Mercan wanted to go cage diving with sharks.
Özpirinçci, who told her daughter that she herself could not do this dive with her, relayed the response she received as follows:
“She paused for a moment and said, ‘If only (yes, if only) my Grandpa Emrah were alive, right, Mom? I would go cage diving with him; he would never be afraid, after all, he was a diver...’”

Özpirinçci, describing the emotions she felt after her daughter’s words, concluded her message by addressing her father:
“A few tears fell, both from longing and from happiness. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. I’m glad it was you, Dad.”
