During his visit to the Balkan countries, the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, arrived in Tirana, the capital of Albania, after visiting Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
FULL SUPPORT FOR ALBANIA'S EU MEMBERSHIP
Costa held a joint press conference with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana. Describing the expansion to the Western Balkan countries as the largest geopolitical investment made by the EU, Costa said, "Albania is a concrete example of the EU's expansion process by progressing on the right path towards EU membership."
Prime Minister Rama also referred to his country's EU membership process, announcing that new chapters will be opened in the coming days. Rama stated, "According to the plan prepared in cooperation with the European Commission and supported by member countries, our negotiations are aimed to be completed by 2027."
As part of his contacts, Costa also met with Albanian President Bajram Begaj and will participate in the 6th summit of the European Political Community (EPC), which consists of EU countries and European countries outside the Union, tomorrow.
