Long vehicle queues formed in front of some fuel stations in Baghdad, which also negatively affected city traffic. No official statement has been made yet regarding the cause of the crisis.
Iraq is considered one of the world's largest oil producers and exporters, with approximately 145 billion barrels of proven reserves. However, due to the US-Iran war, Iraq's oil production dropped by 60%, especially in April, May, and June, from 3.3 million barrels per day to 1.3 million barrels per day. Recovery had begun in July and August.
